My inspiration comes from the Lewis Carroll book Through the Looking Glass, the sequel to the story Alice in Wonderland. The story is about Alice who climbs through the mirror in the living room thereby entering an upside down world. This story made me contemplate the mirror, a banal, ordinary object that we use every day. But it is not so ordinary as we think. Have you noticed that your right hand is your left hand in the mirror? Texts reflected in mirrors are seen in reverse. And when we look at ourselves we do not we do not always relies that our reflection is looking at us. For me mirrors are enshrouded in a mysterious atmosphere. I researched that mysterious atmosphere and tried to make it visual in my jewellery based on several themes: visible/invisible, completion, fragmentation and bouble effect. –
